2022 DC Transit Day (Sunday, January 23)
National Capital Trolley Museum, Colesville, MD
Join us for DC Transit Day as we commemorate the 60th anniversary of the end of streetcar service in Washington. Historic DC Transit 1101, the very first street car of the revolutionary "PCC" design to operate in Washington, will be in operation for two-mile roundtrip rides*. At 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm a slide show presentation of Washington street car scenes will be offered in the Auditorium. At 2:30 pm and 3:30 pm our Director of Education will be hosting a children’s story time and craft activity. A special display of street car artifacts will be in the Visitor's Center; Raleigh D'Adamo's WASHINGTON STREETCAR FILMS, which includes rare footage of Capital Transit Company street cars operating in Washington and Maryland, will be playing continuously. General admission includes access to all of the above.
*Due to the historic nature of our equipment, operating street cars are subject to change without notice.
