All Aboard for Family Fun in the Gold Country!

Railtown 1897 SHP and the California State Railroad Museum Foundation are pleased to welcome guests aboard the historic Sierra Railway. Ride behind a historic steam or diesel locomotive on a train trip through California’s scenic Gold Country. Your 6-mile, 45-minute roundtrip train ride will take you past the water tower from Petticoat Junction and transport you from the backyards of Jamestown to the rugged hillsides of California’s Mother Lode country. After your ride, explore the historic grounds, tour the Roundhouse, have a picnic, and spend the day in the beauty of California’s Gold Country.

Animal Policy
Pets or other animals, except service animals are prohibited on the train. Service animal means a dog or miniature horse that is trained to do work or perform tasks for, and to assist, an individual with a disability. All other animals, including emotional support, comfort or companion animals, are not considered service animals.

Motive Power 
Trains will generally be pulled by the 1265 diesel locomotive. Motive power is subject to change without notice.
