THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride is back! It's taken us here at the Colorado Railroad Museum a bit longer than usual to re-imagine the event for the safety of guests, cast and crew. Since we bring the Magic of THE POLAR EXPRESS™ to life with live actors, we are making some major changes for 2020. Don't worry, though: you'll still experience plenty of Holiday Magic, highlighted by a ride to the North Pole aboard vintage coaches pulled by an authentic, coal-fired steam locomotive!
The redesigned experience begins in our all-new THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Pavilion. Here, you and your family and friends will gather around tables, sing carols, and watch a cabaret-style show as the "Hot Chocolate" song and dance unfolds before your eyes. Nibble on a tasty cookie, and sip your hot chocolate as the story of THE POLAR EXPRESS™ is dramatically re-enacted before your eyes.
The experience continues, as you step outside to witness the dramatic arrival of the Polar Express. This symphony of smoke and steam emerges from the darkness, and the Conductor loudly asks if anyone would like climb aboard. Soon, you'll be on your way to---the North Pole? Well yes, of course! There, you'll watch from your train car as the elves sing and dance, and Santa gives out The First Gift of Christmas.
Once the train with its sleepy passengers returns from the North Pole, you'll have the opportunity to stop by our Depot to visit with Santa---and pick up your very own First Gift of Christmas, a Silver Bell! THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train ride remains an experience that you won't want to miss. The entire, multi-part show has been redesigned throughout to keep Social Distancing and your safety in mind.
Masks will be required for all passengers ages 3 and up, and must be worn at all times except when eating and drinking while seated. Seating capacity for each THE POLAR EXPRESS™ journey has been reduced, to allow additional room between groups in our cabaret pavilion as well as aboard the train. For 2020, two ticketing levels are available: Standard Seating and First Class. In past years this event has sold out quickly, and for 2020---with reduced availability---you won't want to wait to purchase your tickets!
Masks are Required for this event for all participants ages 3 and older, and must be worn at all times except while eating and drinking while seated. For the safety of our guests, cast and crew, we are unable to make exceptions to this policy.
Arrival Time is very important for 2020. We cannot accommodate guest arrival earlier than 60 minutes prior to your ticketed show time. We suggest you arrive 30-45 minutes prior to your Performance Time. A pre-show will begin 45 minutes prior to each showtime, and you'll be sure not to miss the show when the real MAGIC begins!
We've reduced overall capacity for the 2020 THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride for safety. It's also the reason we've moved to ticketing in pairs. We hope you agree these measures are reasonable, in order for us to safely offer you the Magic of THE POLAR EXPRESS™ in this challenging year.
