PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
The festival officially starts with the Opening Night event! The evening begins with a collection of eight (8) short film selections, all in competition for the “Best Short Film” award for the festival. These films are of varying length, style, and themes, and submitted by filmmakers around the world. Afterwards, everyone is invited to an Opening Night Reception in the Hickory Museum of Art next door for food and drink. And for those daring souls that want to see some more interesting, unique, and possibly bizarre short films, the “Night Gallery” collection of late-night short films will be presented after the reception (approximately 9:30pm). The ticket price includes your admission to the entire night of events..

(Note: the later “Night Gallery” portion of the evening is intended for mature audiences only.)

RATING: The early evening short films are intended for ages Teen and older (for brief adult language). The late-night "Night Gallery" shorts are intended for Mature Audiences (contains scenes of violence, adult language, and adult situations).

It’s the Hickory, North Carolina version of the Oscars! Everyone is welcome to attend a festive event to close out this year’s festival. Join us at Moretz Mills as we enjoy a full dinner (catered by Liazzo’s) and present awards for the best films from the weekend festival.

The guest speaker for the Awards Ceremony will be Josh Larsen, author of the book "Movies are Prayers: How Films Voice Our Deepest Longings". Josh is the co-host of the radio show and podcast Filmspotting, as well as editor and film critic at Think Christian, a faith and culture website. He’s been writing and speaking about movies professionally for more than two decades.

The ticket includes dinner and attendance at the awards ceremony. Beer, wine and alcoholic beverages will be available through a cash bar during the evening.

The Drendel Auditorium on the SALT Block is a beautiful 400-seat facility with stage and screen capabilities. All of the selected feature-length films will be shown in the Drendel Auditorium on the SALT Block in Hickory, North Carolina between Friday and Sunday. All of the Short Film selections will be shown during a special Opening Night event accompanied by a reception.
