For over 20 years, Minnesota Public Radio's Broadcast Journalist Series commissions journalists and correspondents for a 24-hour residency four times a year, 2 in the fall and 2 in the spring each season. While here they share insights on their craft as well as on people and events. Hosted by MPR's Tom Weber, all events take place at the University of St. Thomas O'Shaughnessy Education Center with a breakfast the following morning at the Minneapolis Club.
ED MORRISSEY has been writing about politics on his blog, Captain’s Quarters, since 2003 and most recently on HotAir.com, where he blogs and hosts a talk show. He is a columnist for The Week and The Fiscal Times, and his writing has appeared in the Washington Post, the New York Post, the New York Sun, the Washington Times, and other newspapers. A former weekend radio-show host in the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area, Morrissey now often guest hosts Salem Radio Network’s nationally syndicated shows and on the Relevant Radio Network. In GOING RED: The Two Million Voters Who Will Elect the Next President—and How Conservatives Can Win Them (On Sale April 12, 2016; Crown Forum), Ed Morrissey takes readers on a walking beat tour of seven battleground counties that Republicans lost to Obama in the two previous elections and stand to lose again in 2016. But, as Ed reveals through in-depth reporting and face to face conversations with the electorate, the Republican Party can turn the tide with a nuanced campaign strategy—small alterations to their messaging that, Ed reports, could paint these crucial counties red in 2016.
