In Beginner’s Leatherworking: Carving Leather Patches, resident master of leather and Tilt Leather owner Jennifer Laursen takes you under her wing to teach you how to carve leather and create your own custom leather patch! Think of leather carving as illustration on leather, but using a blade... way more badass than a pencil if you ask us! Working with our assortment of stencils and traceable images such as plants, patterns, old school tattoo flash, and more, you will learn to transfer an image onto a leather patch, safely use a swivel knife to carve the image, and then use metal stamps and bevels to bring out the 3-D design elements! You’ll have the option of staining or hand painting your patch, then finishing it by punching holes along the edges so you can pop it onto your favorite denim jacket and prepare to slay!
