Do you want to enter the world of indigo dreams? Come and learn the beautiful and ancient Japanese resist-dyeing technique known as Shibori. In this class you will learn the basics of creating an indigo dye-bath using pre-reduced indigo crystals and Shibori techniques to generate unique patterns and designs to make 4 rad napkins. Each piece will be unique and unexpected and use four different patterns/ styles, so you’ll learn several styles and mehtods. You will use folded, tied, and bound resist techniques to create your beautiful indigo pieces of work. This class will be a great starter class to get you going, as well we will expand to offer more shibori projects classes in the future including a pillow class. (Feel free to get creative and not just use your napkins for napkins- you can DIY them into pillows, pouches and more with our sewing classes, just sayin’! )
Materials Needed: None, all will be provided. Make sure to wear something that you don’t mind getting a little messy in or BYO apron.
Teacher Bio: Simone has always loved crafting and creating beautiful things. She is a Kindergarten teacher by day and a crafter by night. She stumbled upon the world of dyeing and Shibori accidentally and was instantly drawn to its beauty and unpredictability. She has spent her weekends over the last year teaching herself how to create the unique patterns and developing the techniques used in Shibori and indigo dyeing.
