My name is Royal Skyyy and I am a hip-hop artist, born in West Palm Beach,
Florida. I moved to Charlotte, North Carolina at age 13, and am currently
living in the mountains of Asheville, North Carolina. I am 26 years old and
have been writing and rapping for about 2 years now. Not only do I enjoy
writing for myself, I also enjoy writing for other people because of my
belief in the age-old adage that "united we stand, divided we fall." In
addition to being a hip-hop artist, I am also a Christian and firmly
believe that with God, I am everything and without him, I am nothing.

Oren Major is a 24 year old St. Louis native with dreams of being an inspiration to the community he left behind. At just 8 years old, he began to write poetry about everything ranging from girls and family, to fears and tragedy. He shifted from writing poems to rap songs after moving to Atlanta at age 14. “Moving to Atlanta changed me for the better. St. Louis was like a dark cloud. There’s no jobs or careers, just gang life and drugs. Atlanta opened my eyes to endless possibilities. It gave me hope,” says Major. Oren credits Kanye West’s Late Registration for inspiring him to be an artist. “The soul and concept of that album got me.” The sampling process also intrigued the up and coming rapper. “I like the idea of taking different sounds of songs I like and incorporating it into my stuff.” Ludacris, Lauryn Hill, and Missy Elliott are some other influences present in the Atlanta rapper’s sound but what sets him apart is his style, which Vintage Media Group calls “aggressively conscious.” “I try to say things in a way that people want to hear it. Nothing too preachy, I’m just mixing the radio sound with the underground.”

This sound runs deep throughout his debut album, Blinded By Ambition.

Major’s story is one of staggering perseverance. He’s come a long way from the stoop kid in JeffVanderlou. He plans to use the experiences he’s endured as a platform to be a voice for young black men of his generation. “I believe that people deserve a role model and if it’s not me, then who? I want people to see back home in St. Louis that if I can make it out and be successful, then you can too.”
