Doors Open: 6:45 PM
PLEASE NOTE ALL CLASSES FOR WOOD THUMB ARE LOCATED IN SOMA AT 354 5TH STREET, NEAR FOLSOLM. THEIR NUMBER IS class=415-512-7040. IF YOU NEED ANYTHING. PLEASE ARRIVE 10 MINUTES BEFORE CLASS SO WE CAN START ON TIME.
ADDRESS: 354 5th St, San Francisco, CA 94103 In every class you’ll learn the basic techniques of woodworking and the general tools of the trade. In this class you’ll create your own live edge magnetic wood slab cutting knife holder. Participants will select their slab and cut their board with the chop saw. They will then use a router to cut out three holes to glue in 3 super strong magnets which will hold up the knives. Students will sand down their slab until it’s smooth to the touch and finish with a soft oil to bring out those beautiful wood grains.
Teacher Bio:Wood Thumb was started by two brothers, Christopher and David, who set out to make a living by building beautifully designed products that embody sustainability, craftsmanship, and ingenuity. For the holidays growing up, their gifts always needed to be handmade which led to the creative, maker lifestyle they lead today. They"re self-taught woodworkers who have really mastered the craft from the years of custom work and running Wood Thumb. We have enjoyed their awesome wooden fold up booth at Renegade Craft Fair for years and amazing wooden bow ties (we even spied Questlove in one a few weeks ago).
Supplies: None! Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring an apron or we can supply one for you. (Did we ever mentioned sawdust makes one sexy cologne and makes a great dry hair shampoo...haha)
Cancellation Policy: Workshop offers a 72-hour cancellation policy and will refund 100% of your class fee or rebook you to another class if done within that timeframe. You must cancel/ move your spot/ switch to another class at least 72 hours prior to class time- no exceptions. We lock in with our teachers at that point, purchase all supplies and contractually still have to pay teachers for your spot whether you attend or not past that point. Please understand that buying a ticket to a Workshop class is the same as buying a concert ticket, theatre ticket, or movie ticket, and we must treat refund requests after the 72-hour mark in the same manner. You can also feel free to gift your class to a friend any time! Email us at info@workshopsf.org to cancel, rebook or for questions.
