Prompted by the 2012 murder of Trayvon Martin and inspired by his time working as a corrections officer at a Florida maximum security prison, Meshaun Labrone wrote “POWER!” Stokely Carmichael. The play journeys into the mind of revolutionary Stokely Carmichael based on June 23, 1966, when Carmichael prepared to engage in a stand off with state police during the March Against Fear in Canton, Mississippi. A discussion featuring Mr. Labrone will follow the play. Following the performance and discussion, please enjoy visiting the Museum through extended hours until 7pm. Ticket holders will not have access to the Museum prior to the performance.
