Becca Stevens / Broca's Area

  April 9, 2017 8:00 PM

Becca Stevens's forthcoming release, Regina, on GroundUP Music, will be available in March 2017. It features Laura Mvula, Jacob Collier, and David Crosby, was produced by Troy Miller, and coproduced by Michael League of Snarky Puppy. Regina is a tribute to strong women in literature and history, as well as in Stevens's own personal life. Stevens uses Regina as a muse, or alter ego, enabling her to write in a new way, fearlessly mixing pop, folk, rock, jazz, funk, and much more. This will be the first album under Becca Stevens, rather than Becca Stevens Band, so it marks a clear new direction, cementing her career as an important, authentic, and talented singer-songwriter of her generation.

Broca's Area is a four-piece future soul band based out of Hartford, Connecticut, featuring a unique blend of hip-hop, R&B, and soul music. Pushing the envelope of these styles towards jazz gives you the multidimensional, polyrhythmic band that is Broca's Area. The band was named Best R&B/Soul/Funk and Best New Band by the Connecticut Music Awards in 2015. Broca's Area was also nominated for Best Hip-Hop Band and Song of the Year for "Who Is to Say" off the record they put out in April 2015. Their debut EP, Clarity, is now available on iTunes, Spotify, Amazon Music, and Bandcamp.
