Doors Open: 10:45 AM
In our most popular sewing class, we cover all elements of Sewing 101, add in some advanced sewing skills, and include a few fun projects to help you get some practice! Learn basic sewing skills including how to cut fabric, how to use a simple pattern, and how to perform a few different stitches. You will learn how to load and operate a sewing machine, as well as how to install basic zippers using the machine. You will also have ample opportunity to practice your new sewing skills and troubleshoot any issues with the instructor’s guidance.
For this home decor edition of Sewing Bootcamp for Beginners, you will finish several simple projects including a koozie for a can, fabric napkins, a pot holder, and a pillow. For the pillow project, you will make a zipper style pillow case with a geometric patchwork pattern to master the basics of this traditional craft. You will leave with your pillow and a pillow insert that’s ready to decorate your home! This is an intensive class that will last all day with a 30-minute lunch break, so show up alert and leave the hangovers at home. After all, this is bootcamp guys!
Supplies Needed: None. We supply all fabric. Also, you’ll be using a simple Janome 2212. Please do not bring your own machine.
Instructor Bio: Jennie Lennick is a San Francisco based artist who reinterprets traditionally domestic and feminine imagery into drawings, sculpture, fiber, and functional items that investigate the relationship between high art and kitsch.
