In our new series of woodworking classes, we’ve partnered with the ace woodworkers & all-around fun peeps of Wood Thumb! Offering these classes out of their woodworking studio in SOMA, Wood Thumb will teach you basic woodworking techniques as well as offer a primer on common woodworking tools, both power and non-power. Each class features a different project with overlapping tools and techniques, so feel free to take them all!
Triangle Shelf Project: Looking to embrace your inner lumberjack? Join Christopher, of Wood Thumb in SOMA, for an evening of woodworking where we ll cover basic tools and techniques, and you’ll go home with a finished product of a Triangle Shelf for this class. Stop buying your gifts when you can learn to make them! Or proudly boast about the wooden creations you made around your house. We have seen these awesome shelves all over boho style stores and major retailers but with a price tag of $80 & up. They are adorable anywhere, ideal for crystals, jewelry, putting your trinkets and do dads that mean the world to you on display. Best part is after you take the class, you can make more at home and create an awesome design wall with several.
Supplies Needed: None! Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring an apron or we can supply one for you. (Did we ever mentioned sawdust makes one sexy cologne and makes a great dry hair shampoo...haha)
Instructor Bio: Wood Thumb was started by two brothers, Christopher and David, who set out to make a living by building beautifully designed products that embody sustainability, craftsmanship, and ingenuity. For the holidays growing up, their gifts always needed to be handmade which led to the creative, maker lifestyle they lead today. They’re self-taught woodworkers who have really mastered the craft from the years of custom work and running Wood Thumb. We have enjoyed their awesome wooden fold up booth at Renegade Craft Fair for years and amazing wooden bow ties (we even spied Questlove in one a few weeks ago).
The rules / important stuff: We have a NO EXCEPTIONS 72 HOUR CANCELLATION policy - this includes cancellation, re-books, gift certificates, moving classes, etc. For more information on canceling a class, please read our cancellation policy. All classes are 21+ unless you email for permission. If any questions, please email us at info AT workshopsf DOT org.
