Theatre 99 is located at 280 Meeting Street (above the Bicycle Shoppe). The stairs to our entrance are located at the back of the building.Seating is general admission (like going to the movies) so we recommend arriving 30 minutes early. The closer you arrive to showtime, the harder it is to get seats together. Theatre 99 does not guarantee seats together. We just like to be clear so that no one is surprised when they arrive.
Please check you spam/junk folder the day before and day of the show because Theatre 99 will send an email with parking tips and other important info about the show.
Show Description:
Darwin Week presents a hilarious and engaging hour of conversation and audience games with comedian Chris Duffy and internationally renowned paleontologist, fossil hunter, and writer, Dr. Phillip Manning. You'll learn, you'll laugh, and you'll even have the opportunity to win some prizes. We'll explore the history of evolution, what dinosaurs and birds have in common, and Jurassic CSI.
Chris Duffy is the host of public radio's You're the Expert, where three comedians try to guess what a leading scientist studies all day. Chris is a nationally touring comedian whose shows have been featured in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, and PBS NOVA. Chris is both a former fifth grade teacher and a former fifth grade student.
Dr. Phil Manning is a Professor of Palaeontology in the Department of Geology and Environmental Geosciences at the College of Charleston, is also Professor of Natural History at the University of Manchester (UK), and is a Fellow of the Explorer’s Club. Dr. Manning has authored both children's and popular science books and is a regular contributor to public speaking programs around the world, promoting the public engagement of science. He has written and presented many National Geographic documentaries, including Jurassic CSI, Dino Autopsy, Dino Death Match and T. rex Ultimate Survivor. Dr. Manning was appointed as the Science and Technology Research Council (STFC) Public Engagement Fellow (2013-2019), to promote science and technology to as wide an audience as possible.
