A World Premiere Musical
Book, Lyrics, and Music by Ryan Scott Oliver, 2023 Kleban Prize Recipient
After a devastating succession of crushing hurricanes, the leadership have determined that life on the island of Haverness is no longer sustainable and they must abandon it immediately. All the adults, small children, and the elderly have hurriedly evacuated Haverness to acquire new homes, new jobs, and set up new lives on the mainland, leaving behind a small collection of young adult volunteers to finish handling the abandonment. Widow Clack lives an exiled life running a lighthouse with her brother on the storm-crushed island. When a young man is found dead on the beach, the remaining collection of young adults combust into dangerous accusations leading to devastating division. Once a final, unexpected storm impacts the island, can Widow save the villagers from themselves? This production is part of the Michael J. and Mary Anne Freeman Theatre and Dance Series
