Echoing Past (Winslett/Mendelssohn-Hensel) World Premiere (Zendejas/Chants from the Valaam Monastery Choir)
Stoner Winslett's 1996 work Echoing Past takes its inspiration from the journey that is life. With lovely turn-of-the-century costumes, Echoing Past follows a lead female dancer as she remembers important chapters in her past and draws strength from them to continue with the future, examining that which we can control, that which we cannot, and the strength that lies within our own selves.
First introduced to Richmond Ballet audiences through the 2014 New Works Festival, Mexican choreographer Edgar Zendejas returns to Richmond to set a fully-produced, new work this March. Known for his earthy, contemporary style and his love for flowing movement, Mr. Zendejas' world premiere ballet is inspired by the strength of women and, with a heartbeat all its own, this new work is sure to be forged with an undeniable sense of cool.
