Popular NCMA lecturer and art educator Joseph Covington covers 5,000 years of art history. “From Pyramids to Pixels.” Topics include the great masters, African art, the Islamic world, photography, and new media.
This lecture examines the similarities and the discontinuities in the prominent bodies of work that fall under "Postimpressionism." The lecture will cover depictions of Parisian nightlife and changing social structures, influences and departures from Impressionism, as well as the lives and temperaments of the key artists engaged in Postimpressionism.
