Sights and Sounds Concert Series - Borromeo String Quartet
November 18, 2018
2:00 PM
Included in Visiting Artists subscription ticket. No docent-led tour available for this performance.
The award-winning Borromeo String Quartet, one of the most important ensembles of our time, is admired and sought after for its fresh interpretations of classical music and for the championing of works by 20th and 21st century composers.
This string quartet was the first to use laptop computers on the stage. Members of the group rehearse and perform from the composer’s original handwritten manuscripts, allowing them to play from full four-part scores. As the score is projected onto a screen, the audience experiences the musical process of the composer and the musicians.
The quartet is ensemble-in-residence at the New England Conservatory of Music, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, and the Taos School of Music summer program.
