The University of North Carolina at Wilmington Department of Theatre continues its 2014-2015 season with William Shakespeare’s classic, Hamlet, directed by Christopher Marino, Assistant Professor of Performance and Artistic Airector of Dram Tree Shakespeare Company.
Learning of his father’s death, Prince Hamlet comes home to find his uncle married to his mother and installed on the Danish throne. At night, the ghost of the old king demands that Hamlet avenge his “foul and most unnatural murder.”
With a new adaption based on the “First Quarto” of Hamlet known as the “Bad Quarto” Professor Marino seeks to create a production that is both visceral and immediate.
Showtimes: 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday, & Saturday, with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m.
Performances will be held February 19-22 and February 26-March 1 on the Mainstage Theatre in the UNCW Cultural Arts Building on the UNC Wilmington campus.
