PERFORMANCE DESCRIPTION
The BSO tackles the challenge of telling a fictional story of bureaucratic parody that is two centuries old and bringing it to life in the form of the Suite from Lieutenant Kijé by Sergei Prokofiev. After intermission we will probe the riddle left to us by Sir Edward Elgar in his famous Enigma Variations aided by the theatrical talents of Guthrie Theater ensemble member, Gary Briggle as Sir Edward. We will also feature our concertmaster Michael Sutton in a performance of the Rondo and Capriccioso by Camille Saint-Saëns.

Winner of the MNSOTA Mary West Solo Competition

We customarily conclude our BSO concert season with a parade of colors and moods, and this year is no different as we focus on 100 years of exuberant French music by Berlioz, Saint-Saëns, Debussy, and Ravel. We are also proud to present this year’s MNSOTA Mary West Solo Competition Grand Prize winner as soloist in a finale to remember!
